XII: Change

Nothing beats the happiness you get when you know you've helped someone.. right? Growing up with my mom, it molded me to become.. well someone with a soft heart.. like meek?. She always make it a point that we help others even in simple ways, especially the underprivileged. High school came, I was then enrolled at a Catholic school and I got the opportunity to get myself involved with charity works, outreach programs, feeding programs and stuffs. For my 18th birthday.. i was thinking of celebrating it at an orphanage but plans remained plans. My college friends and i got into this really serious talk.. and we all found out that we have some things in common. Like that we are all for CHANGE! we are anti this and anti that.. But we were all useless, just one of those people who would want to change something yet do nothing.. LOL! Unlike my aunt and uncle here.. They made this Library dream a reality. At our small barrio in the province of Bicol, schools have no facilities of any kind. No libraries, no books, no toys ... Most of the kids there haven't even heard about Cinderella or Snow White.. not even Hansel and Gretel. Pity right? Well not anymore.. just last June 25 the library was opened.. and finally fairy tales are introduced to the kids.. Lucky I was there to witness such wonderful event. The day was such a big event for them. They had this really well organized program plus everyone was so looking forward for that day.. On the morning they had this mass & had the library blessed as well.. Each grade level prepared an intermission number. Then the ribbon cutting ceremony, then lunch ~ a really scrumptious lunch. After lunch they had parlor games.. And my aunt had prepared prizes ~ toys. the kids were all very active, according to the school principal its the first time this has ever happened. Everyone was really doing their best to get a prize.. WOW! When the games were finished and there are still some remaining toys to give away. the emcee told the kids to dance then some people would go around to give prizes to those who dance really good. Yah, so that was what me and my siblings and some cousins did, roam around and give out the toys.. Every kid was doing there best to impress us!! Even the guys would dance the Nobody dance steps by the Wonder girls :P It was a very exhilarating experience.. i had a blast. Even my sometimes greedy little sister told me that when we get back home we would send some books and toys to the school kids.. and heres the pictures as promised.. the before picture.. *heres the empty space they used for the school library* during the inauguration.. Game time :) i love how these pictures turned out.. Uhm Anyway if you want to help us collect some more books (new, old, used) .. Please dont hesitate to contact me at atashiemjaydesu@hotmail.com and a little favor.. could you please tell your friends about this too :) Thank You! and have a nice day :)
